To make a long story short, I homeschooled for about 10 years, life took its turns, I divorced, and the children went into school. I was heartbroken. I never thought I would have that privilege again, but here I am now, remarried and homeschooling our sweet 10yo daughter. We are in our third year of homeschooling (I taught 4th grade in public school for two very long years), and after two years with a popular classical community, I have re-discovered Charlotte Mason and embraced her methods just these last few months. It has been quite a journey, and the return to "home" and "learning" has been so sweet. God has answered my prayers with many sweet ladies for support, friendship, and growth. Thank you for your ministry to so many mothers, fathers, families, and children!Michaellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06128147902304382603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8612255949290013608.post-52862720538463723122019-09-03T23:42:40.675-04:002019-09-03T23:42:40.675-04:00You've made a real difference in my life. I believe we were homeschooling our children at the same time and nearly the same aged children. My youngest of five is 27. I will always, always fondly remember you and your encouragement to me through the Parents Review (I still have mine and share them with young moms) and through your books which I also recommend and share my copy with others. God used you in a very special way in my life and I will always be grateful to you. Thank you, Karen. From one Grandmother to another, God bless you and your family. Type: Lessons at Blackberry Inn - into their Search Bar and it will pop up. My son created a beautiful new cover for it - not released yet - which will be used either on an upcoming Amazon Kindle edition or (if we decide to keep it in paper) the new print-run - or both.

Miss Comstock's Handbook of Nature Study looks to be a facsimile which may have become faded in subsequent printings. The photographs are a poorer quality than we are used to seeing in modern books because this was the state of things back in the day it was originally put together - but the text is interesting. I just checked eBaby and saw some for very good prices. My copy is a hardcover from Cornell University Press. It's text is clear.

Thank you for your compliments, Kathryn, I admire how you are following your interests.
Karen A. I have many plants and things highlight to see if they grow in Washington state. I have two questions . Your book Lessons at Blackberry Inn is currently selling on Amazon for $40. Do you know of a source that might have a better price and/or do you have copies to sell? Also, I am looking to purchase Handbook of Nature Study and the editions sold on Amazon do not have the best reviews. Many of the comments say the printing is faded as are the pictures. Which edition do you recommend and which one do you own.

One book at a time, that is how I want to approach this for myself. Thank you for the books you have written and the guidance you share. You truly are a remarkable woman.

KathrynKathrynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11585065660353760105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8612255949290013608.post-41344588299550119942019-06-22T22:20:49.867-04:002019-06-22T22:20:49.867-04:00Dear Karen,

I promptly bought your books, and soon after brought my last two children home to homeschool. It was the best decision our family made. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement over the years. I own and read all your books and read your blog faithfully. I will miss it so but understand the needs of family. Your books have encouraged me through the years. I started home schooling 22 years ago and was doing so much twaddle work that we were overwhelmed. I came across the “purple” book that blessed our lives. I had finally found the educational philosophy that fit us. I now have given this book to my daughter and daughter-in-law as they are starting their journey of homeschooling 💕.
Your gentleness of spirit and love for the Lord comes out in all your writings.
