Disappointing News
Disappointing news for me is that I will not be attending the Meet & Greet at CHAP as announced. I’ll miss seeing you. My pain level is up and as the conference hall is hard on the legs and back I had to face facts yesterday afternoon. Since the beginning of the blog I’ve had no reason to mention my chronic pain, until now. Thank you for your understanding.
Dean, the Man-of-the-House, will attend the Rainbow tables Saturday
morning. He is taking my place but he says he doesn’t look as nice in a Laura
Ashley dress (he, he). Regardless of this please stop by and say “Hello” if you
are walking that way or if you plan to rummage Rainbows tables. With Rainbow a
little rummaging reaps bountiful rewards for book lovers. My unapologetic plug
is that Rainbow’s generous selection of curriculum accommodates a variety of
learning styles at excellent prices.
“Disappointment, His Appointment” – Phil Keaggy lyric
I will be at home. I’ll be making more progress on my next post to you, starting a rough draft on the next book review and baking a round loaf of whole wheat for the Man-of-the-House. Later I'll gaze at the bleeding hearts at the back door where I will be waiting for his return.
Yours Truly,
Karen Andreola
I'm very sorry to read you live with chronic pain and the disappointment it can cause. (((HUGS)))

An online hug for you, Karen. Relax, rest, and enjoy "His appointment" as you stay home. (Love that quote - good reminder).
ReplyDeleteThank you Ladies.
ReplyDeleteIt was earlier this week that I first learned what a "cyber hug" is. Now that I am on the receiving end I can say that it is indeed, cheering.
Thank you,
Karen A.
Sad that I will not see you.
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks wonderful...
Take Care.
Deanna
I just recently joined your blog, but I want you to know three things. Your Charlotte Mason companion has been a constant source of encouragement to me for the last 11 years-something I re-read yearly.
ReplyDeleteThe second thing is that I understand how hard it is to deal with chronic pain and illness. They have been my constant companions for many years, and have taught me many lessons. That is one of the reasons I never make it to homeschool conventions!
And lastly, the poem you included in your book, -To a Skylark has inspired me in making my final decision on naming my blog, since that is one of my greatest desires.
(The blog isn't opened yet.)
Hugs and prayers to you, dear Karen.
And thank you for always being a source of encouragement for me.
Dear Karen,
ReplyDeleteMay you feel better soon! The Lord only knows why He chooses to bless us with trials and tribulations, but it is a blessed thing to know that it is for a purpose.
I am very grateful that you are able to share with us through your blog, even if you can't in person.
Love,
Marqueta
p.s. I hope that Dean chooses to wear something BESIDES the Laura Ashley dress! :)
Karen, so sorry to hear you won't be able to attend the meet and greet. Love the quote and will be sure to post it on my fridge as a reminder. :) Sending wishes for a peaceful day and will keep you in my prayers,
ReplyDeleteLisa
I am sorry to hear that you have chronic pain. You certainly bear it beautifully!

I know how disappointed you are feeling at the moment...but I am sure that you will get better soon. And the rest will certainly be a benefit towards keeping you pain free :)
ReplyDeleteIt is His appointment for sure... enjoy it! m.
Praying you are feeling better very soon. I know too well of what chronic pain feels like....I deal with it on a daily basis myself.....blessings to you dear friend
ReplyDeleteDear Karen,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you're not feeling well. I am praying for you. Your Charlotte Mason Companion was the book that changed my homeschool and I will be eternally grateful for the blessings my family has reaped from applying the words on it's pages. Thank you.
Love,
Melanie
Oh I hope you feel better very soon. It's certainly not fun to have limitations.
ReplyDeleteKaren, I'm sure sorry to hear that "what ails you" is acting up. My back has been more than fussy for the last three weeks. I have another friend who suffers from back pain. She says that we'll meet on the back 40 of heaven and do back flips to our hearts' content!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, I too am waiting for my husband to return from a trip. He has been away for most of the week.
So many people emphasize the pains of old age, and I do see that old age often brings physical pain. However, we do not have to be old to suffer pain.
There is a Star Trek episode in which Warf receives a brand new spine. Sorry for the colloquial, but it is way cool! I want one too!
Feel better,
Susan
Hello Karen,
ReplyDeleteI too am sorry to hear of your pain. i pray that it will ease for you. I am going through a small trial myself at the moment and I can sympathise with you.
Blessings Gail
Dear friend - you will be in my prayers EXTRA this week! May the Lord carry you!
ReplyDeleteAmy
Oh and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! God richly bless you this weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteHere's a cyber hug for you too!! I'm sorry you're not feeling up to snuff. I hope your pain gets under control soon. An anti-inflammatory diet may help. Of course that's coming from someone that just had surgery! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the Man of the House enjoys your bread!
Dear Karen, hopefully, you feel a little better now? Sorry to hear you couldn't attend this special occasion - but your bread looks wonderful!! There are always two sides...
ReplyDeleteWhenever I see my bleeding heart, I think of you as you like mentioning ist...
Best to you! Martina
I had a disappointing Mother's Day as my son and his wife had to change the time we were going out for Sunday Dinner and I had to decline.
ReplyDeleteI have to have meals at certain times due to the two insulins I take and their new times didn't work on that schedule.
Chronic illness is no fun! However, there is nothing like it to keep us running to the Savior for strength. :)
I keep telling Deanna that I need to make another trip to Lancaster County and have tea with you two. :)
His eye is on the sparrow,
ReplyDeleteAnd I know He watches me.
A comforting chorus,
Karen A.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry!!!! Big, gentle hug!
ReplyDeleteLove, Heather
Dear Karen, I have recently found your blog. I have your books and they have brought much inspiration to our homeschool! I want you to know that you are not alone in your chronic pain fight! I am 42 and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 13 years ago after many years of not knowing what was going on. Let us remember that "we have 'it' and 'it' doesn't have us!" I know it is hard at times! ;) Blessings to you and your family! (((hugs)))
